The Scratchpad tool provides a convenient space for capturing quick notes directly within your browser environment. Every note you create is saved automatically, ensuring that your thoughts, to-do lists, or snippets of information are never lost during your session. You can easily manage multiple notes, give them names, and organize your ideas instantly without worrying about manual saving steps. It serves as a reliable digital notepad for temporary data or long-term reminders accessible whenever you need them.

Data Handling and Privacy

Security and control over your information are central to the Scratchpad experience. Notes are written to your browser's local storage first, so they stay on your device by default. They are only copied to our server if you are signed in and choose to sync them to your account. This keeps your data available on your primary device while still allowing a seamless transition to other devices whenever you want it.

Where are my notes stored?

Your notes live in your browser's local storage. Nothing is sent to our server unless you are signed in and switch on synchronisation, so by default the notes never leave the device you wrote them on. Once you do sign in, they are additionally backed up to your personal profile so you can reach them from other devices.

Is my data safe?

Storage is deliberately kept local: your notes are saved in the browser and are not transmitted anywhere while you are signed out. Syncing to your account is opt-in and only happens after you log in. That leaves the decision with you – whether the information stays on a single device or follows you across all of them.

How do I access notes on other devices?

You need to be signed in. The local copy in your browser always stays the starting point, but once you log in your notes are also synced to your account – and from there they are available on every device you use. Sign out again and new notes stay local.
